AUTSA

Kia ora, we're AUTSA

The Auckland University of Technology Students' Association. We amplify student voices, strengthen advocacy, and champion student success and wellness at AUT.

We're a small team doing our best to make AUT a fun and safe place to be for all students. Think of us as your voice on campus — with a bunch of fun stuff and free food on the side.

What we do

From advocacy to events, clubs to hardship support — here's how AUTSA supports you at AUT.

How AUTSA works

Key points from our constitution — the guiding document for AUTSA and the Student Representative Council.

Our purpose
  • Represent students and advocate on their behalf
  • Promote the welfare and interests of all AUT students
  • Provide social, cultural, and recreational activities
  • Support student clubs and organisations
Membership

Membership is free for all enrolled AUT students — domestic and international. AUTSA is independent from the university and governed by students, for students.

AUTSA is a registered charity (CC30928) and all income is used for the benefit of students.

Te Tiriti o Waitangi

AUTSA is constitutionally committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to a bicultural partnership with tangata whenua. We work alongside Tītahi ki Tua under a formal Memorandum of Understanding.

Student Representative Council

The SRC is an elected body of student representatives covering faculties, campuses, and community portfolios. They set AUTSA's direction, approve budgets, and ensure student voices shape decisions.

Funding

AUTSA is funded through a portion of the Compulsory Student Services Fee (CSSF) that AUT charges alongside tuition. This funds advocacy, events, clubs, Tautoko support, and other student services.

Our history

AUTSA was incorporated on 20 January 1966 as the Auckland Technical Institute Students Association. From a cabinet factory in 1895 to a world-ranked university — explore the story of AUT and its students' association.
