The Waiwhero Project

Free period products across all AUT campuses. Supporting students so periods are never a barrier to learning.

The Waiwhero Project

Period poverty refers to the lack of access to sanitary products, menstrual hygiene education, toilets, hand washing facilities, and waste management. The Waiwhero Project supports students experiencing period poverty by providing free period products across AUT.

You can find free sanitary pads and tampons in dispensers across campus — including the Rec Centres, AUTSA offices, Pō Māori, VA, and the Rainbow Rooms on all three campuses. Hygiene products are also available in our Kete Pantry.
