Distance & online students

Studying from anywhere

AUTSA supports all AUT students, wherever you're based. Whether you're studying from home, from another city, or from overseas — you're still part of our community.

Access AUTSA services online

All of our core services are available remotely. You don't need to be on campus to get help.

Advocacy

Free, independent advocacy support via email or video call. Whether it’s an academic dispute, complaint, or tenancy issue, our advocates are in your corner.

Tautoko Support

Apply for financial assistance and grocery vouchers entirely online. All applications are confidential and assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Clubs & Communities

Many AUTSA clubs run online meetups, Discord servers, and virtual events. Join a club to meet people who share your interests, from anywhere.

Events

AUTSA livestreams key events where possible, and many club events are hybrid or fully online. Check the events calendar for upcoming opportunities.

Stay connected

Distance doesn't mean disconnected. Here's how to stay part of the AUTSA community.

Join a club

Browse our 120+ clubs and look for ones that run online meetups or have active Discord/group chat communities. Cultural, academic, and hobby clubs are all options.

Follow us on socials

Stay connected on Instagram (@autsa_official), Facebook, and TikTok for event updates, giveaways, and student stories.

Academic support

AUT offers a range of academic resources you can access from anywhere.

AUT Library

Access thousands of e-books, journal articles, and databases from anywhere with your AUT login. The library also offers online research consultations.

Online learning support

AUT offers academic skills workshops, writing consultations, and maths/stats support online. Book through the Student Hub or AUT Learning Centres.

Lecture recordings & Canvas

Most lectures are recorded and available through Canvas. If recordings aren’t available for your papers, contact your lecturer or programme leader.

Your voice matters

Distance students have representation too. AUTSA's Student Representative Council advocates for all AUT students, and we want to hear from you. Complete our student survey to share your experience, or check out how AUTSA represents you at a university level.
