1. About AUTSA
AUTSA is operated by the Auckland University of Technology Students' Association (AUTSA), the recognised students' association for Auckland University of Technology (AUT) under the Education and Training Act 2020. AUTSA provides access to AUTSA services including events, clubs, advocacy, hardship support, and membership management.
2. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using AUTSA, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use, our Privacy Policy, and, where applicable, the Membership Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the platform.
3. Eligibility
AUTSA is primarily designed for current AUT students. Non-students may access certain features as associate users but do not hold full AUTSA membership rights. See our Membership Terms & Conditions for details on membership eligibility and associated membership.
4. Accounts and authentication
To use AUTSA you sign in with your email address using a one-time verification code. You are responsible for maintaining the security of the email account you use to sign in. You must not share your verification codes or allow others to access your AUTSA Connect account.
AUTSA may suspend or remove your access if we reasonably believe your account has been compromised or is being misused.
5. Acceptable use
When using AUTSA, you must not:
- Provide false or misleading information in applications, forms, or registrations.
- Use the platform to harass, bully, or discriminate against others.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' data or accounts.
- Interfere with or disrupt the platform's operation or security.
- Use the platform for any unlawful purpose under New Zealand law.
6. Advocacy services
Advocacy services are provided independently of AUT. Information shared with AUTSA advocates is treated as strictly confidential and is subject to the confidentiality terms set out in our Privacy Policy. AUTSA advocates are not lawyers and do not provide legal advice. Where legal advice is needed, we will help you access appropriate services.
7. Events and registrations
Event registrations are subject to availability. AUTSA reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, or modify events. Where an event is cancelled, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered attendees. Free events do not guarantee entry if capacity is reached.
8. Intellectual property
All content on AUTSA, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is owned by AUTSA or its licensors and is protected by New Zealand copyright law. You may not reproduce, modify, or distribute any content without written permission from AUTSA.
9. Limitation of liability
AUTSA is provided on an "as is" basis. While we take reasonable care to ensure accuracy and availability, AUTSA does not warrant that the platform will be error-free or uninterrupted. To the fullest extent permitted by New Zealand law, AUTSA is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the platform.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other New Zealand legislation that cannot be excluded by agreement.
10. Changes to these terms
AUTSA may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the platform or by email. Your continued use of AUTSA after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising under these terms are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
